About the Event

SUBJECT MATTER ISSUE DISCUSSION

Reproductive Rights

It’s not IF Roe v. Wade will be overturned, but WHEN. In IL, the 2022 election will determine the fate of legal abortion in the post-Roe era for decades. If Roe is weakened or overturned abortion will remain legal in IL and the IL Supreme Court has recognized the right to abortion under the state’s constitution.

Hear Planned Parenthood and Personal PAC staff discuss the importance of retaining and electing partisan justices for the IL Supreme Court to maintain reproductive rights.

LGBTQ+ Rights

There are laws and policies within the state that drive equality for LGBTQ people, from the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian couples to supporting people who are transgender, intersex and gender non-conforming. The fight continues though; in 2022, we expect attacks on trans youth to intensify. Those who fought against marriage equality are shifting to bathroom bills, sports, health care and working to ban books and curriculums that acknowledge the existence of trans people.

Equality IL will talk about the importance of judicial elections and voting down ballot for securing and retaining LGBLTQ+ rights.
